Cox Mobile Announces 22 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Teen Finalists in Second Annual Phone Case Design Contest
Tucson teen competing for one of two $25,000 scholarships, Fan Favorite voting now open
(TUCSON, Ariz.), January 26, 2026 – Cox Mobile, Cox Communications’ mobile phone service, has announced the 22 finalists from across the U.S. in its second annual Phone Case Design Contest, held in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. This year’s contest invited high school Boys & Girls Club members to design a phone case that represented the theme “A World Within Reach – Future Icons.”
Mia, from Tucson’s Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson, has been selected as one of the 22 nationwide finalists in this year’s contest.
Mia’s artwork showcases how different shapes and colors come together to create something beautiful. About her design, Mia explains that the hand represents each person putting their own piece where it fits. Together, the puzzle colors represent the beauty of life, innovation, and communication that connect us all. She adds that her design is an optimistic vision of how humanity and technology combine to complete the puzzle of our earth.
Later this spring, a panel of judges, including leaders from Cox Communications and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Club Alumnus Mario Lopez, and 2025-2026 National Youth of the Year Ximena, will select the grand prize winner, who will receive a life-changing $25,000 scholarship as well as a $25,000 technology grant for their local Club.
“This contest is deeply meaningful for our community, for Cox, and for the young people who attend Boys & Girls Clubs in Tucson,” said Stephanie Healy, Cox Southern Arizona Market Vice President. “When we invest in this generation and encourage them to use their creativity to shape their own paths, we’re helping build the confidence they need to become lifelong learners and future leaders.”
Each finalist will be recognized by their local Club during a special celebration in February and will receive a connectivity prize package.
Cox Mobile Fan Favorite Voting Now Open
In addition to the Grand Prize Winner, the public is invited to vote for this year’s Cox Mobile Fan Favorite Winner. The winner will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship and a $10,000 technology grant for their local Club.
